A new cycle path in Komořany connects to the footbridge under the Prague Ring Road

The asphalt road has a generous width of 4.5 meters. Starting from the footbridge under the Prague Ring Road, it ascends through approximately six switchbacks. The path also includes three rest areas with four benches, two picnic tables, and 18 bike stands.

Connections

In the lower section, the new path connects to the right bank cycle route A2 along the Vltava River and the cycle route A102, which runs across the footbridge suspended under the Prague Ring Road, crossing the Vltava River. The footbridge has been awaiting this connection since 2014 when it was completed.

In the upper section, the path merges with the field path Nad Roklí, which leads to an allotment colony and the busy Komořanská road. When crossing Komořanská, cyclists reach the relatively peaceful Branišovská Street, where the maximum speed limit is 30 km/h. This road, winding through nature, ascends another 112 meters in elevation to Točná, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Prague 12. The planned cycle route A50 passes through this area.

Future Connections

The current upper endpoint of the path at the field path Nad Roklí is temporary. The definitive connection is planned as part of the construction of an interchange between the Prague Ring Road and the New Komořanská road. This high-capacity four-lane road is intended to facilitate faster car access to Prague.

For commuting or recreation?

Rather than being a path for everyday commuting, it serves as a recreational trail that expands the options around the busy path along the Vltava River. Only a few individuals from the nearby Komořany allotment colony or Točná will use it for commuting to work or school.
