The two-year closure of the pedestrian and cycling path along Hostivař Reservoir has ended. The two-kilometer route along the right bank of the reservoir has a completely new surface, furnishings, and retaining walls.
The path was built in the early 1960s as part of the reservoir’s construction and the establishment of a forest park. Since then, only local repairs of potholes and more serious landslides had been carried out here.
The reason for the reconstruction was the poor condition of the path and the construction of an additional safety spillway. Furniture was added to the path, and two paved viewpoints overlooking the water surface were created, along with wider resting steps. The cost of repairs amounted to over 31 million Czech koruna including VAT.
The A23 and P15 cycling routes run along the path. These routes, without any contact with cars, connect the neighborhoods of Petrovice and Hostivař.
The closure took place from June 28, 2021, until the end of July 2023. Due to complications during construction, the project experienced several months of delay.
