Hradec Králové plans cyclepath on Bratří Štefanů Street

“The construction of this priority cyclepath is a necessary step that both the local government committee and residents who regularly commute through this area have been advocating for over several years. We have approved the investment plan and allocated 1.5 million CZK for the preparation of project documentation. We plan to select a project designer next year,” explains Deputy Mayor for Investments, Lukáš Řádek (TOP 09). Once the project documentation is completed, a contractor will be selected for the first phase—specifically, the section between the Stoletá and Terno public transit stops. Actual construction could begin in 2026 if all goes well, with additional phases to follow.

„The construction of a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists on Bratří Štefanů Street is a very important step to ensure safety in Slezské Předměstí along the northern side of Highway I/11, heading from Hradec Králové towards Blešno and Svinary,“ says Pavel Vrbický, Deputy Mayor responsible for city property (Pirates). He continues, „For the first phase, we have settled all property matters. We are working closely with colleagues in the property department on the adjacent section, which extends to the Parlament area and further to the bus turnaround. Unfortunately, the city has not yet acquired all the necessary land here. We have already contacted the landowners and held discussions with them, but negotiations will continue through the fall.“
