What are the city districts planning: Prague 11

Do you plan to construct new bike paths, mark cycling lanes, or legalize bike passages in your municipality in the coming years? Where?

In the transportation committee, we approved the initiation of preparation for more than ten measures in May, which we will begin preparing. We supported the ongoing preparations for bike paths A41 from Záběhlice, A225 to the Košík housing estate, A216 on U Kunratického lesa street, and others. Additionally, we plan to commission a bike path along the eastern part of Hviezdoslavova street on route A229, the continuation of the path along U Kunratického lesa street, and a connection from this street to Jarníková street on the future relocation of route A22. We will also attempt to find a better solution for the barrier underpass on Opatovská street on route A21.

Furthermore, we want to explore the possibility of several smaller legalizations, such as on K Horkám, Ke Stáčírně, Mírového hnutí streets, at the Chilské bridge over the D1, and on Kupeckého, Vojtíškově, and Hekrově streets. This mainly concerns continuity from existing paths or the connection of dead-end streets. We are not currently preparing new bike lanes, but it cannot be ruled out that they will be created on certain roads under the city’s jurisdiction.

In the previous electoral period, the municipality initiated the preparation of projects for several bike paths and handed them over to TSK for implementation. Do you have information about when the path along U Kunratického lesa street and the connector to the Košík housing estate will be constructed?

For the path along U Kunratického lesa street, engineering for building permits is underway, and the acquisition of one piece of land is being addressed. As for the path to the Košík housing estate, the project documentation for building permits has already been handed over to TSK. We can optimistically anticipate the start of construction next year. Our municipality has also officially declared that it will take over the maintenance of the surfaces of this bike path (A225).

What other sections is the municipality preparing? How far along is the preparation for the missing connections from Opatov to Šeberov, from Háje to Petrovice, and from Chodov to Záběhlice?

From Opatov, we will explore the legalization of a sidewalk over the D1 to Na Jelenách street, connecting to recently established crossings for cyclists. The path from Chodov to Záběhlice is being prepared by TSK, and documentation for building permits is in progress. The connection to Petrovice along Výstavní is encountering insurmountable land issues, and we will discuss alternatives with the mayor of Petrovice.

Do you plan to improve the accessibility of your municipality for cycling through two-way cycle streets, perhaps within 30 km/h zones?

We are trying to enhance the accessibility of roads away from the roadway, but we are not currently considering new two-way cycle streets.

In the old Chodov area, there have been discussions for several years about changing the parking regime, which would involve converting most of the local streets to one-way. Will you maintain two-way access for cyclists in this case?

If the streets in the old Chodov area were converted to one-way for cars, we will attempt to maintain two-way access for bicycles wherever possible.

In the municipality, historically there are bike racks near schools and some public buildings. Are you planning to add more racks or possibly allocate spaces for bikesharing bikes to create a dense network that allows bikesharing to operate with minimal issues related to bikes being left outside designated areas?

Regarding bikesharing, we currently have a somewhat negative view on this topic in P11 for several reasons that are already well known. Moreover, we believe that our somewhat peripheral area may not be the ideal target for companies providing this service.

How else do you plan to improve cycling conditions in your municipality?

We have allocated some funds for minor improvements, such as lowering curbs, which will enhance the movement of cyclists in our P11 district.

Which construction or change in the current term will have the most positive impact on pedestrian and cycling transportation in your municipality?

We anticipate the completion of the path along U Kunratického lesa street and at the Košíkovské nádrže, which should be completed.

Which foreign city serves as an inspiration for you in terms of transportation?

Perhaps Berlin.

Do you ever travel around the city by bike? If yes, why, and if no, why not?

Yes, occasionally, both on a regular bicycle and on an electric scooter.
