The Central Bohemian Region plans to connect all bike towers in the region to the PID Lítačka app. This is outlined in the contract between the regional contributory organization Integrated Transport of the Central Bohemian Region, and Systematica, the supplier of the bike towers.

It will concern the bike towers in Lysá nad Labem, Poděbrady, Čelákovice, Kolín, Beroun, and Milovice. The PID Lítačka app should allow payment for storing a bike in the bike tower and display operational information. Besides location and operating hours, it will primarily provide information about the number of available spaces and any operational anomalies.

The region also aims to reduce the storage fee for holders of selected types of PID time-based subscriptions, potentially to 0 CZK if defined conditions are met. Previously, it was mentioned that holders of long-term coupons for the tariff zone where the bike tower is located could park for free. The region plans to subsidize the difference in storage costs as part of its support for cycling and public transport.

How will the system work?

The region’s goal is to add another attractive payment channel for bike towers, which will also allow discounts on storage. Existing payment methods (directly at the bike tower or with a discount through the Czech Railways InKarta) will remain in place.

The PID Lítačka app should be able to scan the QR code from the storage ticket issued by the bike tower after storing the bike. After scanning the ticket, the app will automatically evaluate the price the user should pay based on their prepaid public transport coupons and facilitate this payment.

After payment, the user will receive a certain time limit (e.g., 20 minutes) during which they can retrieve their bike using the storage ticket. The system is designed to minimize potential queues or delays at the bike tower. Users should be able to make the payment in advance, for example, when traveling from the station to the tower.
