People can now ride their bikes on a new section of the Bečva – Vlára – Váh (Bevlava) cyclepath between the villages of Lužná and Valašské Příkazy, located on the border of the Zlín and Vsetín districts. The newly opened section is over 11 kilometers long. It is part of the long-distance international bike route Bevlava, which, upon completion, will connect the Zlín region with the Slovak region of Považie, Soňa Ličková, spokesperson for the Zlín region, told ČTK.
The international Bevlava bike route, with a planned length of about 64 kilometers, aims to connect the river basins of Bečva, Vlára, and Váh, with its name derived from these rivers. It is being gradually constructed by a voluntary association of municipalities from Hornolidečsko, Valašské Klobouky, and Slovak villages. Bevlava is one of four long-distance routes in the Zlín region.
The cost of building the new section was 269 million CZK, with the region contributing 51.5 million CZK. A grant from the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure amounted to 193.5 million CZK. „This is historically the highest amount received for the construction of a cyclepath in the Zlín region. Therefore, the regional leadership decided to support this project. Without the financial assistance of the region and the combined efforts of all participants, such an expensive project could not have been realized. I am glad that the municipalities took on this project, and I thank everyone involved in the construction. We also plan further support for the area to complete the network of cyclepaths,“ said Governor Radim Holiš (ANO).
The section between the villages of Lužná and Valašské Příkazy connects to the first stage of Bevlava; the section from Lužná to Ústí is about ten kilometers long. The cyclepath from Valašské Klobouky to Brumov-Bylnice and towards the state border is also complete. „The southern part of the cyclepath is also nearing completion. To open the entire 64-kilometer route, it now remains to connect Valašské Příkazy through the village of Poteč to Valašské Klobouky and to complete a smaller section beyond Svatý Štěpán to the state border,“ said the spokesperson.
