Construction of Dvorecký Bridge closes cyclepath A2; City marks a model detour

The A2 cyclepath is now closed between Veslařský Island and Žluté lázně. The detour runs along the opposite side of Podolské Embankment, where temporary permission has been granted for cycling on sidewalks. Cyclists can easily cross the street and proceed along this alternative route. However, caution is advised, as the shared space with pedestrians can sometimes be narrow, and the sidewalk surfaces are uneven.

Some cyclists ignore the detour

Although the detour is clearly marked, some cyclists disregard it and try to pass through the closed section of the path. While this doesn’t pose immediate danger, it complicates construction work and disrupts traffic coordination around the site. Ultimately, these cyclists are forced to switch to the opposite sidewalk, often at unofficial crossing points, causing confusion and potentially unsafe situations. Following the marked detour is crucial for smooth construction progress and safe movement in the area.

A well-marked detour

The closure will remain until the next phase of Dvorecký Bridge construction is complete, with the bridge expected to be fully finished by January 2026.

Further restrictions are expected after the Barrandov Bridge reconstruction is completed, when work will begin on another section of the A2 path between Veslařský Island and Braník. Temporary closures and detours are likely to be necessary there as well.
