The shared pink bikes have launched in Žďár

The shared bike project will cost the city approximately one million Czech crowns. Žďár nad Sázavou, through Rekola, offers cyclists the first half-hour of each ride on traditional bikes for free, with subsequent half-hours costing 15 crowns. Using an electric bike costs 1.50 CZK per minute. The shared bikes will be available throughout the season.

„We are pleased that we can offer shared bikes to both locals and visitors in Žďár. For some time, we have been working to ensure that cyclists can move around the city safely and not have to ride in heavy traffic. Therefore, we have converted a number of suitable sidewalks into shared paths for pedestrians and cyclists, and through various projects, we are also focusing on cycle paths. We believe that this will get many people into the saddle,“ summarized Žďár’s mayor, Martin Mrkos (STAN).

Parking only at stations

Parking for shared bikes is possible at approximately 30 locations throughout the city. A list of all stations can be found on the Rekola website. The rental itself can be done through the Rekola app for iOS or Android, or through a web interface. A payment card is required to rent.

„We are very pleased that our pink bikesharing has expanded to another city and we believe it will bring a lot of joy to the residents and visitors here. Each bike ride indeed changes our cities for the better,“ stated Vítek Ježek, founder of Rekola.

After Krnov and Prostějov, Žďár nad Sázavou becomes another city where Rekola’s pink shared bikes have recently expanded to.
