This September, the construction of a bike path that would connect Kačerov metro station with U Labutě in Prague 4 was supposed to commence. The long-anticipated project, which had received construction permits in 2019, was scheduled for execution this autumn. However, City Hall ultimately did not allocate the necessary funds, leading to a further postponement of the project.

The construction was intended to take place on the current pedestrian sidewalk along Michelská and Vídeňská streets, with a planned uniform asphalt surface ranging in width from 3 to 3.75 meters. The project also included the relocation of DPP and PRE cables, new public lighting, and related accessibility and landscaping improvements. The planned A42 cycling route would pass through this location.

City Hall obtained construction permits for the project around 2019, but its progress was hindered by a billboard owned by the JCDecaux company. Dealing with its owners took an additional four years. This year, the realization was finally expected, with the Technical Administration of Roadways of the Capital City of Prague preparing the project for implementation between September and November 2023.

However, TSK (Technical Administration of Roadways of the Capital City of Prague) ultimately did not initiate the construction since they did not receive the necessary funds: „TSK a.s. did not receive financial resources from the MHMP (City Hall of the Capital City of Prague) for the implementation of this project; therefore, the project was not started,“ a representative of TSK stated for „Městem na kole.“

The realization of the bike path, which has been discussed since 2003, remains uncertain.

The editorial team of „Městem na kole“ is currently seeking further details from Prague City Hall.
