Prague 9: A new bike path along Granitova

The construction, with an asphalt surface, spans 320 meters and connects to other new paths in the area. The routes A43 and A7 are planned to run through it. These routes connect to the Rokytka bike path (Prague’s cycle route A26, the international EuroVelo 4, and Czech cycle route No. 2), which passes through Vysočany along a former railway spur all the way to Libeň.

Currently, the path along Granitova is more of a dead-end branch off the Vysočany path. In the future, however, the path along Granitova is expected to pass under the former Kolbenova spur and connect to the main corridor of the Northeastern Cycle Route.

The connection of the paths around the new Suomi and Lappi residential areas to cycle route A26 was added approximately two years ago. This filled a short gap between otherwise comfortable asphalt sections of the cycle paths that had remained due to unresolved property issues.

Part of the Northeastern Cycle Route

The new path is part of phase 7.1 of the construction of the Northeastern Cycle Route. This path will run along Sámská Street, under Kolbenova, and along the railway line to Klíčov. The following phase 8, a 300-meter section in the AFI Hloubětín development, has already been completed. The middle section, 800 meters long, is still missing. Its construction is tied to a development planned by private investors, making it difficult to set an exact date for completion.
