The modernized Prague-Radotín train station, following the renovation, now features a locked bike shed as well as six bike stands. This marks the second automated bike shed in Prague.

Uncovered stands allowing the locking of bikes to the frame have a capacity of 12 bikes. The racks are located to the left of the new building along the first platform. Adjacent to them is an accessible socket with the option to charge electric bikes. Inside the new building, costing 53 million CZK, people will find a waiting area, ticket offices, and paid toilets. The station serves up to 230 trains per day.

A new bike shed

To the right of the dispatch building at the northern end of platform 1, there is a new bike shed. It is monitored by cameras, has a capacity of 30 bikes, and requires online verification for opening it, with free access. There is also a charging station for electric bikes. Several additional stands with an additional capacity of 20 bikes are located outside the shed but still under a roof. The two-tiered stands, both in- and outside the shed, do not allow entirely comfortable locking of the bike to the frame.

This is the same type of shed as the one at the Opatov metro station in Prague 11, provided by the Ecoprogress company. The Railway Administration and the City of Prague contributed to its realization. Currently, there are no directional signs leading to the bike shed from the station, and information about its existence has not been publicly disclosed.

Parking in the shed was free during the visit, requiring only registration on the operator’s website and opening via a code obtained through a web application. The covered stands in front of the bike shed are entirely accessible.

Apology from the editor

We apologize for the omission of information about the bike shed in the article we originally published on December 19, 2023. The Railway Administration and the Prague Integrated Transport did not provide information about the shed. We visited the site and updated the article accordingly.

We apologize to the readers for any inconvenience caused by this mistake.

Where stands are missing

However, bike parking is lacking at the entrance to the station from Na Betonce Street. Additionally, at the P+R on Prvomájové Street, only the existing wire fence was preserved, and bike parking there has not changed. Therefore, from the northwest side of the station, parking your bike is somewhat challenging. To park in the shed or at the quality stands, you need to use an accessible underpass from Na Betonce Street, and then continue along the sidewalk or ride on Vrážská Street. The underpass has spacious ramps, making walking with a bike not problematic.

This way, you will reach the stands and the bike shed. There is no barrier-free underpass for bikes from the P+R on Prvomájové (the only option is to use the elevator or the stairs).

In connection with new constructions around the newly rebuilt railway hub, a footbridge along the railway line was recently opened in Radotín. The 126-meter-long, 3-meter-wide footbridge consists of a steel structure. The footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists replaces a level crossing that was present before the reconstruction of the railway line. It connects the Osvoboditelů Square, the left-bank cycle route A1, the modernized station with the underpass of the railway line, the school complex, sports facilities, and a recreational area. It provides a convenient connection from the new station to the superior cycle route A1, away from busy car traffic.

The second significant new build in Radotín this year is a footbridge over the Berounka River. It replaced the previous footbridge that was damaged during the floods. It connects cycle routes A1 and A11, and specifically Radotín and the neighboring Lipence.
